Georgia Henshaw
April 11, 1936 — January 10, 2017
Carbondale-Georgia Henshaw, 80, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Herrin Hospital surrounded by her family.
Georgia was born on April 11, 1936 in Pinckneyville to George and Agnes (Goldman) Roethe.
Georgia has always been a hands-on mom. Our memories include her sewing our holiday clothes and being involved in our childhood activities. She was the original Do-it-your-selfer. We always had an activity or outing planned. She loved to join her grandchildren to make unforgettable memories wherever they lived. Gardening and being outdoors always made Mom happy. She loved making arrangements to share with friends and staff.
Georgia was a mother, a grandmother, a sister and an aunt, a cousin and a teacher or a caretaker and a friend. She would always lend an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and was always eager to help anyone in any way, whether she even knew them or not. Georgia never met a stranger and loved each and every one with her whole heart.
