George E. Billingsley GOREVILLE-George E. Billingsley, 81, of Goreville passed away at 12:25 AM, Saturday, May 6, 2006 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Pastor R. G. Null officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, May 8, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Busby Cemetery in Goreville. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Diabetes Foundation; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Billingsley was born on October 25, 1924 in Johnson County, Illinois to Herbert and Lena (Hodge) Billingsley. He married Verna Mae Sullivan on March 9, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Survivors include his wife Verna Mae of Goreville; sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Janis Billingsley of Marion and Mark and Marsha Billingsley of Goreville; grandchildren, Heath and Monica Billingsley of St. Louis, Missouri, Hayley Schaberg of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jason and Charity Billingsley of Goreville and Jeffrey and Crystal Billingsley of West Frankfort; great grandchildren, Kyler and Kaden Schaberg, Annamarie and Alex Billingsley, Reese Billingsley and Megan Billingsley; sister-in-law, Faye Billingsley of Herrin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille Hancock; and brother, Bob Billingsley. Mr. Billingsley retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Company after 33 years of employment. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He loved to work on his farm and loved his horses, but most of all he loved his family.
