Gary Dotson

Marion-Gary Wayne Dotson, Sr., 68, was called into the presence of his Lord Christ Jesus on Monday, September 3, 2018. Gary was born on July 15, 1950 in Huzzah, MO to Rainey and Opal Dotson. He married Ethel Rhoades Parks on May 5, 2013. Gary was a construction contractor for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed wood working and was an avid fan of Cardinals baseball; he even played in the minor league of men’s softball in the 1970s.  Gary was an active member at Abundant Life Church in Marion.  It was said that Gary never met a stranger, he loved meeting new people. He is survived by: Wife-Ethel Dotson of Marion Sons-Douglas Dotson of Johnston City; Gary Dotson of Missouri and Kristopher Miller of Marion Daughter-Angela Daun Dotson of Marshfield, MO Siblings-Rainey (Ray) Dotson of Robinson and Donna Quip of Lebanon Step children-Kim Ford of New Burnside; Shawn Parks of Marion and Alex Parks of Carterville 14 grandchildren Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Cletis Dotson, Virgil Dotson and Carl Dotson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 1pm at Abundant Life Church in Marion with Pastor Jimmy Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Pittsburg.  Visitation will be on Friday from 10am until the time of service at the church. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
