Gale C. Emery MARION - 8220; Gale C. Emery, 82, of Marion passed away at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 26, 2007 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church building fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Emery was born on September 7, 1925 in Marissa, Illinois to Callie and Harriett (Evans) Calvert. She married John J. Emery on December 20, 1947 in Murphysboro; God blessed them with 59 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, John of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jamie Thompson of Marion; daughter, Susan Emery of Marion; grandchildren, Lauren Thompson and Leah and Tom Doan; great grandchildren, Anaya Connley and Elias Connley; and sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Prediger of Muskegon, Michigan, Jerry and Ron Brasel of St. Louis, Missouri and Marie Joost of Steeleville. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters. Mrs. Emery was an active member of the Marion First Baptist Church, where she had formerly taught Sunday school for many years. She was a teacher at Marion High School for 33 years. She was very strong in her faith and she loved the Lord. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
