MARION-G.W. `Bud`, 78, of Marion passed away at 11:45 PM, Friday, April 15, 2005 at Fountain Nursing Home in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the Goddard Chapel in Marion with Mayor Robert Butler officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 PM, Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Goddard Chapel. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Barekman was born on February 18, 1927 in Marion, Illinois to Charlie Kirk and Helen (Sisne) Barekman. He married Betty Jean Booth on September 21, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, she preceded him in death on October 17, 2003. Survivors include son, George Barekman, Jr. of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Jean and Dan Ranger of Chama, New Mexico; grandchildren, Timothy Andrew and Kathleen Stanley of Las Vegas, Nevada, Thomas Allan and Monica Stanley of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, Donna Jean and Jesse Mower of Portlas, New Mexico, and Charlene Marie and Paul Haynes of Jupiter, Florida, seven great grandchildren; and cousin, Rogera Mefford of Granite City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Mr. Barekman formerly owned and operated B & B Printing. He worked as the theatrical electrician at the Orpheum Theater in Marion and had installed sound equipment in most of the theaters in Southern Illinois. He was a member of the Scottish Rites Bodies in Belleville, Ainad Temple in East St. Louis, Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM and the Williamson County Shrine Club. Mr. Barekman was a supporter of the Goddard Chapel and donated his mother`s piano to the chapel
