MARION – Freeda Louise Kinsey, 86, died at 8:20 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at her home in rural Marion.
Freeda was born April 25, 1927, in Blodgett, Missouri, to Robert and Hallie (Watson) Shelby. She married Alfred Kinsey on December 23, 1943, in Morley, Mo. Together they enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
Freeda was a homemaker and busy mother to 12 children. She was a member of Cana Baptist Church.
Freeda is survived by five sons and seven daughters, 30 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren. Her sons include Neal Wayne (Linda) Kinsey of Charleston, MO, William ‘Bill’ (Marsha) Kinsey of Ellery, IL, Daniel (Cynthia) Kinsey of Jackson, MO, Steven (Michelle) Kinsey of Farmington, NM, and Andy Kinsey of Harrisburg, IL. Her daughters are Judy (Tom) Strickland of Jackson, MO, Karen (Jerry) Rowland of Herrin, Sandis (Bruce) Parks of Louisville, KY, Paula (Kenneth) Kelly of Marion, Debra (Mike) Blumenstock of Marion, Sheila (Gary) Harris of Carrier Mills, and Dana Kinsey of Paducah, KY. She is also survived by four sisters and one brother: Maxine Hill of Sikeston, MO, Dora Bomar of Jackson, MO, Verna Scheffer of Denver, CO, Joy Shelby of Encino, CA, and Bobby Shelby of Memphis, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two brothers, Don and Kermit Shelby; two sisters Hazel Strickland and Jo Whitehead, and two infant siblings.
Services will be on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Howat officiating. Interment will be in Cana Cemetery at Creal Springs. Visitation will also be on Monday from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
