Fred W. Roberts MARION- Fred W. Roberts, 77, of Marion passed away at 11:45 AM., Sunday, April 27, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 16, 2008 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Greg Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Mr. Roberts was born on December 24, 1930 in Toxey, Alabama to William and Ella Mae (Taylor) Roberts. He married Blanche Graff on April 17, 1954 in Murphysboro; together they shared 54 years of marriage. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby J. and Sarah Roberts of Toxey, Alabama; brother-in-law, Wayne Graff of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Mr. Roberts was a member of Heartland Christian Church in Marion, where he was active in the Berean Sunday School Class. He served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.
