Fred W. Deaton MARION-Fred W. Deaton, 83, of Marion passed away at 1:40 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2005 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 19, 2005 at Shiloh Christian Church Cemetery south of Marion with Rev. David Willard officiating. Military rites will be performed by the VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Christian Church Cemetery or to Bolton Cemetery. Envelopes may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Deaton was born on June 20, 1922 in Williamson County to John L. and Julia (Odum) Deaton. He married Verla D. Borum on March 9, 1943 in Jackson, Missouri. Survivors include his wife Verla of Marion; son, Larry Wayne and Donna Deaton of Marion; daughter. Marla and Vance Aikman of Marion; grandchildren, Crystal and Paul Gualdoni, Eric Wayne Deaton, Kira Aikman, Erin Aikman; great grandchildren, Michaella Gualdoni, Blake Gualdoni, Lexxus Deaton; sisters-in-law, Ruth Deaton, Alene Simpson, Nola Japuntich, Lou Sarah Sellars, Imogene Borum, and Katherine Borum He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Myrtle Tanner, Madge Shadowens; brothers, Chester Deaton, James Laren Deaton. Mr. Deaton was a veteran of WWII. He served in the Army Air Corps. He was a mechanic and worked for several garages in the area. He was later self-employed and owned Deaton Outboard where he worked on Johnson and Evenrude boat motors. He was of the Baptist faith.
