Frances “Granny Fran” Barton ENERGY-Frances “Granny Fran” Barton, 85, of Energy passed away at 7:10 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2007 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 31, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend R.H. Chitwood and Reverend Carl Cottingham officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills. Memorials may be made to Shawnee Christian Nursing Home or Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Granny Fran was born October 25, 1922 in Carrier Mills, Illinois to William Herman and Arsula Elizabeth (Cole) Tanner. She married L. A. “Butch” Barton on June 16, 1946 in Alameda, California; he preceded her in death on August 15, 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Roland of Energy; grandchildren, Jeanie and Monte Blue of Marion, Jack and Dana Roland of Carterville, Mike and Julie Roland of Grand Prairie, Texas and Brian and Michele Roland of Cambria; great grandchildren, Chris Blue and his fiancé, Gena, Kelli Blue, Nikki and Steven Knoob, Brandon Roland and his fiancé, Destiny, Jessica Roland, Cody Roland and his fiancé, Amanda, Shane Roland, Ty Roland, Brian Roland, Jr., Sean Roland and Trinity Roland; great great grandchildren, Lexie Lacy, Savannah Knoob and two on the way; sister, Mary Raymer of Waterford, Michigan; and her extended family at Shawnee Christian. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Jewel Tanner; son-in-law, C. L. “Bud” Roland; and great great granddaughter, Madyson. Granny Fran was a member of the Energy Methodist Church. She worked at Toppers in Marion for many years, Young In Children’s Clothing and International Fashions both in Carbondale and later in life she worked for ADDUS until the age of 81.
