Flora Agnes Perry-Higdon GOREVILLE- Flora Agnes Perry-Higdon, 87, of Goreville passed away at 8:35 PM, March 3, 2004 at Fountain Nursing Home in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Goreville. Mrs. Perry-Higdon was born on August 11, 1916 in Union County, Illinois to William Edgar and Lydia Frances (Tripp) Stokes. She married Hugh Robert Perry on February 27, 1937, he preceded her in death on April 29, 1975. She later married Wayne Higdon on August 6, 1977, he preceded her in death on January 2, 1993. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Bill Perry of Chicago; grandchildren, Todd and Tracie Newton and Sean and Melissa Newton; great grandchildren, Nicholas Newton, Grant Newton, Emma Newton and Bryce Newton; son-in-law, Bill Newton of Sherman; sisters-in-law, Frances Wood and LaDonna Kerley both of Herrin; brother-in-law, Bill Higdon of Herrin; step-daughters, Darlene Primm and Kathy Armstrong of Tennessee; many, many, cousins, nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and daughter, Donna Newton. Agnes attended Regent School and Goreville Schools. She was a member of Mt. Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years, and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Goreville Chapter #1009. She worked many years in the cafeteria of Sangamo Electric Company at Ordill, and later as a cook at Goreville Grade School. She also worked at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Hillview Nursing Home in Vienna and Park Avenue Nursing Home in Herrin.
