Everett L. Hilliard MARION-Everett L. Hilliard, 67, of Marion passed away at 1:44 AM, Friday, April 2, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Entombment services were held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 3, 2010 at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Military rites were held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Blue Funeral Home in Marion assisted the family with the services. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Everett was born on August 4, 1942 in Marion to Willis Wade and Anna (Weoster) Hilliard. He married Gini Strunk on July 23, 1960 in Blufford, Illinois; together they shared 49 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Gini Hilliard of Marion; sons and daughters-in-law, Everett Lee and Rose Marie Hilliard of Satellite Beach, Florida, Greg and Lisa Hilliard of Noblesville, and Jeff and Nicole Hilliard of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Keeley, Brittan, Bailey, Sydney, Jared, Paige, Faith and Wade; sister and brother-in-law, Maudene and Charles Norman of Marion; brother, Donald Hilliard of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Edwards ad Elma Cloud; and brothers, Bill Hilliard and Jim Hilliard. Everett worked as a coal miner for many years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He served his country with the United States Army and United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
