Estelle Lemmon
MARION-Estelle Lemmon, 83, of Marion passed away at 9:05 AM, Friday, November 24, 2006 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, November 27, 2006 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion with Reverend Roger Perry and Reverend Joye Perry officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, November 26, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be at Houston VA National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home and the church or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mrs. Lemmon was born on October 10, 1923 in Buckholts, Texas to John and Tressie (Jurca) Zajicek. She married Fred B. Lemmon on August 26, 1943 in Ripley, Tennessee; he preceded her in death on February 13, 2001.
Survivors include son, Gary Lemmon of Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Russell Chiaventone of Herrin; grandchildren, Leila Hunt and Kaitlin, Leah and Kyle Chiaventone; great grandson, Cole Hunt; brothers, Vince Zajicek and L. D Zajicek both of Houston, Texas; sisters, Mickie Telschow, Johnnie Truett, Maxine Norman and Doris and Sam Ricotta all of Houston, Texas and Evelyn Webster of Point Blank, Texas; and sister-in-law, Edith Zajicek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Robert Zajicek and Marvin Zajicek; and sisters, Olga Fuchs and Tillie Luksa.
Mrs. Lemmon was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion. She was a life member of the Marion Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and she worked for her husband as a bookkeeper. She also helped with the Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Home Extensions Association.
