Ernest L. Steward MARION-Ernest L. Steward, 85, of Marion passed away at 3:30 PM, Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. With respect with Ernest’s own personal wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family. Ernest was born January 19, 1924 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Dixon and Bessie (Miller) Steward. He married Mona Lumsdon on June 4, 1950 in Terre Haute, Indiana; together they shared 59 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Mona Steward of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Les “Boomer” Snyder of Marion; and daughter, Nanette Steward of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and seven sisters. Ernest served his country with the United States Navy for 28 years. He retired from the Federal Prison System after several years of service. He enjoyed music and watching westerns.
