Eric Smart

Goreville- Eric Lynn Smart, age 37, of Goreville, passed away at 7:45pm on Friday, September 16, 2016 at his home in Goreville.

Eric was born in Carbondale on April 9, 1979, the son of Richard and Debbie (Deaton) Smart. He married Brenda Schuetz at the Goreville United Methodist Church on July 7, 2001. She survives.

Eric enjoyed fishing, listening to music, snacking, and spending time with his friends. He was always tinkering with things and always busy doing something. More than anything, Eric loved his family and playing with his daughter, Jayla.

Brother- Todd and Teresa Smart of Gardener
Brother- Adam and Summer Smart of Pittsburg
Sister- Sara and Steve Ewing of Pittsburg
Maternal Grandmother- Pat Deaton of Marion

Several in-laws

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather- James Deaton, paternal grandparents- George and Ruth Smart, mother-in-law- Barbara Schuetz, and brother-in-law- Brian Schuetz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Busby Chapel Church in Goreville with Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Burial will follow at Busby Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Busby Chapel Church in Goreville. Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is assisting the family with final arrangements.
