Elmer J. Tiny Lother
MARION-Elmer J. Tiny Lother, 86, of Marion passed away at 11:07 AM, Thursday, August 20, 2009 at John Cochran Veterans Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Stan Serati officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147, and the National Guard.
Elmer was born May 20, 1923 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Robert and Lula (Ash) Lother. He married Myrl Blankenship on May 25, 1946 in Crane, Indiana; she preceded him in death on October 16, 1999.
Survivors include nephew, David Lother; brother-in-law, Luther Blankenship; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son; and several brothers and sisters.
Elmer worked was a bomb inspector with the Civil Service. He served his country with the United States Marine Corp during World War II receiving the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion Post 245, a member of Masonic Lodge, Past Worshipful Master, Chapter 411, and Eastern Star, High Priest York Rite RAH Chapter 127.
