Edward Nick Mitcheff

Edward N. Mitcheff GOREVILLE-Edward N. Mitcheff, 78, of Goreville passed away at 7:37 PM, Monday, June 28, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, July 2, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Tim Woodard officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Edward was born on September 14, 1931 in Stiritz to Rusy and Margaret (Hicks) Mitcheff. He married June Cwilka on May 21, 1949 in Chicago; together they shared 61 years of marriage. Survivors include his children, Nick Mitcheff of Centralia, Chris and Mellody Mitcheff of Goreville and Terry Mitcheff of Lake Villa; grandchildren, Nick Mitcheff, Scott Mitcheff, Dylan Mitcheff and Michael Ellen Mitcheff; great grandchild, Jaden Mitcheff and Niholai Mitcheff; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Cathy Mitcheff of Orland Park; sister and brother-in-law, Loretta and Ben Bielic of Orland Park; sisters, Shirley Rodgers and Mary Ellen Vowell; sisters-in-law, Vivian Mitcheff of Orland Park, and Lorraine Mitcheff of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward Mitcheff, II; grandsons, Ben, Jason and Anthony; brothers, Bobby Mitcheff, Phillip Mitcheff, and Rusty Mitcheff. Edward was a firefighter for the Village of Skokie for 17 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing Cribbage, gardening and farming.
