Edith L. Smith Creal Springs-Edith L. Smith, 92, of Creal Springs, joined her husband, James F. Smith, in eternal peace at 6:45 AM on Friday, February 10, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith are scheduled for Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Tim Blankenship officiating. Edith will be interred in the Creal Springs City Cemetery following services. A gathering for family and friends prior to the funeral services will be held on Sunday starting at 2:00 PM at the Blue Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Edith was born on Thursday, October 23, 1919 in Creal Springs to Clarence & Fannie (Williams) Goodwin. She married James F. Smith; he preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include children, Bob & Becky Smith, Richard & Sharon Smith, Nancy Davis, Barbara & Joe Herman, Betty & Bill Ralls, Pat & Bob Skaggs, Josephine Juresic, Loretta Byrd, Harry & Barbara Smith and JF & Shirley Smith; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren and sister, Mary Jackson. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; grandson, Tracey Blackwell; brother, Stan Goodwin and son-in-law, Frank Davis. Mrs. Smith worked on the assembly line at Olin for 25 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the New Burnside Community Church. Edith will be missed by all whose lives she graced.
