Edgar Eugene "Gene" Atwood

Creal Springs- Edgar Eugene “Gene” Atwood, age 81, of Creal Springs, passed away at 11:22pm on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Edgar Eugene was born in Creal Springs on April 26, 1939, the son of Dennis Eugene and Aline Ora (Boyd) Atwood. He married Ethel Brenda Baxter in Creal Springs on October 14, 1979. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2019.

Gene had worked as a coal miner prior to his retirement.

Survivors include-

Daughter- Kay Childers of Creal Springs

Daughter- Donna and Kenley Bozarth of Eldorado

Son- David and Teresa Atwood of Marion

Daughter- Julie Atwood of Creal Springs

Son- Kevin and Mae Linda Pierce of Stonefort

Eleven Grandchildren

Several Great Grandchildren

Five Great Great Grandchildren

Two sisters- Lois and Charles Davis of Creal Springs

     Betty and Ivan Wharton of Quincy

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter Terry Ann Bozarth.

As per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
