Marion- Donald R. Smith, 57, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 4:05 PM at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February, 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion with the Reverend Robbey Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Friday at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Memorial donations may be made to the Smith Family. Envelopes are available at the Funeral Home or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Donald was born on October 6, 1953 in Moline, IL to Gordon & Naomi (Hornick) Smith. Survivors include daughter, Melissa Chapman of Desert Hot Spring, CA; 4 grandchildren; sister, Janet & Doug Brown of Marion; brothers, Charles & Melonie Smith, Mike Smith and Kelly & Stacey Smith all of Marion; special friend, Janice Horsley and several nieces & nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Smith and 2 brothers, Clarence “Corky” Smith & Gordon Dale Smith. He was very generous and kind hearted. Donald will be missed by all who loved him.
