Donald Oplinger CREAL SPRINGS-Donald Oplinger, 77, of Creal Springs passed away at 5:46 AM, Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Victor Long officiating. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by VFW Post 1301, American Legion and the National Guard. Mr. Oplinger was born May 13, 1930 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. He married Rose Mary “Nancy” Oplinger on June 18, 1953; she preceded him in death on August 7, 1993; together they shared 40 years of marriage. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Daryl Scholtens of Marion; daughter, Lynne Oplinger of Creal Springs; son, Scott Oplinger of Creal Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Donald “D.J.” and Stephanie Oplinger of Harriman, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Michael McDivitt and fiancé, Sarah Alves, Samantha Oplinger and Maggie Rose Oplinger. He was preceded in death by his wife. Mr. Oplinger previously worked as a Security Guard for the Illinois State Treasurer and as a Police Officer. He served his country with the United States Army as a medic with the rank of sergeant. He loved his pets and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
