Marion Dolores Irene Norman, 83, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 8:05 P.M. at Helia Healthcare of Energy.
Dolores (Dee) was born on June 27, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Polish immigrant parents, Adam and Eleanor (Zylka) Brendal, and was the youngest of 9 children. She married Oliver Harold Happy Norman in Marion on November 7, 1981. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1991.
Dolores is survived by 3 daughters, Cynthia Harrell Felts (Dr. James A. Felts) of Rolla, Missouri; Joan Harrell Hamilton (Dr Robert Hamilton) of Wetmore, Colorado; Maribeth Harrell Whitsell (David Whitsell) of Marion; and one son, Harold H. Harrell (Melissa Hope Harrell) of Altamont, Illinois. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Genevieve Felts Meyer (Aaron) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; Anne Felts (West Trueblood) of San Antonio, Texas; Libby Felts James (Clayton) of Longmont, Colorado; Sarah Hanson VanVooren (Aaron) of Carbondale; Allie Hanson Tanner (Seth) of Marion; and Tyler Harrell of Carterville. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren and two sisters, Agnes Grabacki of Lombard, Illinois and Elsie Wawrzyniak of Chicago, Illinois.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 6 siblings (Including her sister who recently passed in June, Florence Spagnola of Des Plaines, Illinois).
Blue Funeral Home in Marion is helping to carry out Dees final requests. According to Dees wishes, her body will be donated to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri for scientific study. She requested that no visitation be held. A memorial service will be planned for a later date. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL 62959
