Dina Alexander

Marion-Dina Giovanna Fregnan Alexander, 81, passed away at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at her home.  Dina was born on November 13, 1933 in Trieste, Italy.  She lived through the turmoil of World War II in northern Italy, along with her parents, Massimo and Maria Fregnan, and brother, Fabio Fregnan.  In 1952, she married in Trieste, Italy, and came to America in that same year.  She arrived at Ellis Island by ship and became an American citizen in 1959.  She is remembered for her love of music and brought her original accordion with her from Italy.  She played the piano and organ, as well as played for multiple singing groups and churches.  She had a gifted ear to hear and play any type of music she heard.  Dina loved her children, grandchildren, and family immensely.  She modeled her Christian faith in sincerity and truth.  She will be remembered for her feisty Italian demeanor, her love for God and her family and friends, and her red lipstick. She was preceded in death by her parents, Massimo and Maria Fregnan, and her baby sister.  She is survived by her eight children:  Louise Murray and Frellen (Budgy), Kathy Buchanan and Jim, Jeanie Robertson and Kevin, Chrissy Jennings and Wade, Jimmy Alexander and Amy, Jerry Alexander and Lisa, Sherry Johns and Chris, Vicky Ridlen and Clarence (Buster). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Aaron and Luke Murray; Jeremy (Amber), Jarrett, and Keri Deaton; Nicholas (Shannon) and Adam (Sarah) Robertson; Jordan McMurray and Sam (Missie) Camden; Madalynn and Layne Alexander; Isaac and Gracie Alexander; Andrew, Collin, and Kenadee Johns; Justin (Melanie), Nicholas (Shannon), Brad, Kyle, and Mallory Ridlen, Halee (Jake) Melvin, and Harrison Upchurch; and many great grandchildren: Tyler and Brett Deaton; Ryan, Lacey, Anna, and Eli Deaton; Hayden, Liam, and Jude McMurray; Kegan Camden; Jeremiah and Mia Robertson; Nicki Robertson; Levi, Dakotah, Callie, and Samantha Ridlen; Harbor and London Bay Melvin. Dina will be laid to rest at the Mt Pleasant cemetery at Poordo.  Graveside services are scheduled at 11:00 am on Wednesday with Rev. Tim Blankenship and Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating.  Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. A Celebration of Life party will follow the service at 17021 Pittsburg Rd, Pittsburg, IL. Memorials can be made to the New Burnside Community Church and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/PO Box 411/Marion, IL 62959.
