Dik Null MARION- Dik Null, 67, of Marion passed away at 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 10, 2010. After a long struggle with diabetes and kidney failure, Dik has gone home to be with his Lord whom he served so faithfully. Dik passed comfortably and peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, three daughters, nieces and nephew. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Marion with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Marion; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959 Dik was born November 5, 1942 in Marion, Illinois to Clyde & Clara Mae (Robinson) Null. He married Brenda Newman on October 15, 1966 in Paducah, Ky. She survives of Marion. Survivors include his wife; children; daughter, Shelley Null of Marion; daughter’s & son’s-in-law Carrie & Todd Marks of Marion, Sarah Beth & Charles Bone of Nevada, Mo; grandchildren, Emily Marks, Bradley Marks, Carter Bone & Elliot Bone; nieces, Pam Newton, Becky Wilkie, Renda Wilkie & Valerie Lucas; nephew, Robbie Null; several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother & sister-in-law Reverend Eddie & Delores Null. Dik was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marion where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and held position as deacon. He was also a member of the Heat & Frost Insulators & Asbestos Workers Local 37. He served for a while in the United States Navy and enjoyed Barbershop Quartet Singing and working with his flowers. The family would like to thank Dik’s physician Dr. Jack Keller and Hospice nurse Ellen Mahan for their years of friendship and loving care in his final hours.
