Denise was born on June 22, 1942 in Creal Springs, Illinois to Clarence C. and Mary P. (Arnold) Hutson. She married Bruce Nevious on March 17, 1962 in Creal Springs and soon began her family, and became part of a large extended family which she had always wished for. She took great joy in spending time with her husband, children, and this new family and sharing the joy of each new niece and nephew. She was soon aunt to 16 nieces and nephews. She loved them all so dearly. The family always looked forward to congregating at “Aunt Dennie’s” for Thanksgiving and rarely missed the opportunity to be a part of that gathering. Denise welcomed everyone with loving arms and open heart and took great pleasure having them be a part of her life. Her greatest joy was the birth of her own children, David and Peggy. She took great pleasure and care raising them. When she didn’t think it could be better she was blessed with 5 grandchildren and was soon teaching them to sew, bake the favorite recipes, grow a flower garden and the love of reading a good book. She was so proud of her family and their accomplishments, and loved them unconditionally. Denise was a calming, positive influence and wonderful mentor for each of them. She continued to be a dedicated, devoted mother and grandmother until her death. Denise was a long time member of Springhill Baptist Church. She loved God and her church, and was active as a WMU member, Sunday school teacher, and witness. Her life was an example to others of what a Christian should be. Denise never knew a stranger and loved to visit with others. She always found the good in everyone who came into her life. She had accomplished the art of listening, and everyone who knew her seemed to want to share his or her lives and dreams. Even as her illness progressed, she never complained, continuing to do for others, never asking for anything in return. She loved God and her family with unfailing selflessness. The family would like to give special thanks to the RT nursing Staff, and the 3rd floor ICU nursing staff at Heartland Regional Medical Center for the outstanding care given to Denise during her illness.
