Debra Smart

Pittsburg-Debra Smart, 65, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Debra was born on October 12, 1951 in Marion to Jay and Patricia (Edmonds) Deaton. She married Richard Smart on April 13, 1974 at Warder Street Baptist Church.  He survives. Debra loved to spend time with her family, especially her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed baking, family gatherings, wiener roasts, drinking coffee and telling stories.  Debra loved her job as a case manager/drug counselor for Westcare at the Vienna Bootcamp. Survivors include: Husband-Richard Smart of Pittsburg Son-Todd and Teresa Smart of Gardener Son-Adam and Summer Smart of Pittsburg Daughter-Sara and Steve Ewing of Pittsburg Daughter in law-Brenda Smart of Goreville Mother-Patricia Deaton Grandchildren: Kaitlin Gimenez Madison Smart Mikaela Smart Levi Smart Dylan Smart Donovan Smart Ivy Smart Tristen Smart Gavin Smart Jayla Smart Brothers and sisters: Jane and Jay Clarida Trina and Jim Loss Lori and Mike Alexander Melissa and Jerry Graves Jay Deaton and Jerry Henry She was preceded by her father, James “Jay” Deaton; son, Eric Smart; brothers, Jim Deaton and Mike Deaton and nephew Paul Deaton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Burial will follow at Busby Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday, June, 15, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
