Deborah Aly went home to the Lord at 3:30 am on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Deborah was born January 10, 1954 in McLeansboro to the late Pola and Ruth (Thomas) Smith. She had two children, Diane (Norton) Schmidt and Christopher Norton and four grandsons. Deborah was married to Maged Ali on December 13, 2005. He survives in Marion.
She graduated Marion High School where she participated in the choir and drama club. She was very proud to play the role of Auntie Mame in Gone With the Wind. Deborah began her career at the VA Medical Center at age 19 and was currently a ward clerk there at the time of her passing. Deborah was a very strong woman and a kind heart and spirit.

Son: Chris Norton of Marion
Daughter: Diane Schmidt and Sean Schmidt of Carbondale
Grandsons: Daunte Boens, Treveon Boens, DeAndre Boens and CamRon Boens
Sister: Paula Jean (Roy) Street of Vienna
Neices: Tara Street and Kara Street
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Deborah loved to read and embroider. She was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Marion and a Union Stewart at the V.A.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 27 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Josh Swain officiating. Burial will follow at Durham Cemetery in Galatia. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 26 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
