Dean Morse MARION–Dean Morse, 72, of Marion passed away at 10:35 AM, Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Whispering Oaks Care Center in Marion. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion with Reverend Tim Ozment and Reverend Ken Burgard officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. The services will be followed by two of Dean’s favorites, a “potluck” and “good conversation” at his church. In respect with Dean’s wishes his body was donated to medical science through SIU Medical School, burial will be at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church cabin at Beulah Camp or Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, Il 62959. Dean was born on July 1, 1936 in Williamson County to Claude and Ruby (McComb) Morse. He married Clelus Dawe on June 14, 1957 in Marion; together they shared 51 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife Clelus Morse of Marion; son and daughter-in-law, Cannon and Karen Morse of Lexington Park, Maryland; daughter, Candra Johnston of Marion; son and daughter-in-law, Vannon and JoAnne Morse of Glen Carbon; and grandchildren, Miranda Johnston, Ethan Johnston, Stenson Morse, Hannah Morse, Brandon Morse, and Matthew Morse. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Malone. Dean was an active member and past custodian at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion. He retired from CIPS after 38 years of service. He was a member of IBEW local 702. His family and his church was his life and he will be missed by all.
