Dawn Marie Chlada

Marion - Dawn M. Chlada, 73, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, peacefully at her home, comforted by family members.  Dawn was a Christmas baby, born on December 25, 1948, in Chicago to Dorothy (Jirasek) and Raymond Maresh.  Dawn worked in Accounting for Loyola University Medical Center for 30 years. She was a foster parent to seven children, provided childcare assistance to several after-school programs, and volunteered for many service roles to assist the elderly.  Dawn had the honor of carrying the Olympic Flame when she served as a Torch Bearer for the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics.  

Dawn’s greatest joys were traveling, playing cards and games with family and friends, and performing acts of service to the young and old. She appreciated the little joys in life and tried to bring that magic to everyone she encountered.  She really was a delight to all and had a smile that lit up the room. Dawn left a world that dearly loved her far too soon.  

Cherished mother of Nadine (Stratis) Bahaveolos, Christine (Vince) Cione.  Proud grandmother of Stratis III (fiancee Vita Pavlyuk), Alexander, and Sophia.  Dearest sister of Melody Baxter; brother, Ray (Mary) Maresh.  Aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. Dawn was preceded in death by her loving husband (John) of 33 years and beloved sister (Denise).  

A memorial mass will take place in the Fall. Donations to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc. or to the Boyton Street Community Center, Marion, IL in memory of Dawn are greatly appreciated.
