David McCourt

Goreville David C. McCourt, 73 of Goreville, passed away at 3:18 AM on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Funeral services will be on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Rev. RG Null officiating. Interment will follow at Cana Cemetery in Goreville. A time of gathering for family and friends will precede the funeral starting at 11:00 AM and lasting until service time. Memorial donations are suggested to the family. Envelopes will be available during services or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. McCourt was born in Diana, WV on October 25, 1939 to John Davis & Orphea McCourt. He married Darlene “Dolly” Girtman in Paducah in 1999. David is survived by his wife, Dolly of Goreville; children, Daniel McCourt & Shawn McCourt of Box Springs, GA, Mark & Sherry McCourt of Mauk, GA and Rebecca McCourt of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Daniel McCourt, Jr., Mark McCourt, Jr., Cheyena McCourt and Jasyman Carr; great-grandchild, Macey Fryer; step-children, Barbara Jean Brock and Bobby Gene Brock of Sebring, FL and Laurie & Charles Howard of Goreville; step-grandchildren, Sarah & Gracie Brock, Charles Howard, Jr., David Howard, Conner Howard and Alyssa Howard; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. McCourt served his country in the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict. David loved to work with his hands, as he was a sheet metal worker by trade. He enjoyed to build things and tinker around. David had a true love for his family.
