David L. Brown, Sr. LAKE OF EGYPT-David L. Brown,Sr., 73, of Metropolis formerly of the Lake of Egypt passed away at 12:10 PM, Wednesday, October 18 2006 at Southgate Nursing Home in Metropolis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 20, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Tom Emmerson and Reverend Carl Stroder officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, Friday, October 20, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at White Oak Cemetery, Creal Springs. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lourdes Hospital; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Brown was born on January 19, 1933 in Urbana, Illinois to Roy H. and Gertrude (Cooper) Brown. He married Maudetta Penland; she preceded him in death on November 23, 2002. Survivors include his children, David Brown, Jr, Tom Brown, Scott Brown, Darcie Cordero, Lisa Hoops, Tim and Terry Emmerson and Tom and Debbie Emmerson; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sister, Nancy Cramer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Mr. Brown formerly attended Lakeside Assembly Church. He retired from the Norge Corporation after many years of employment. He served his country with the United States Navy.
