Energy- David K. Swanson, 54, of Energy, formerly of the Chicago area, passed away at 9:30 PM, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Herrin Hospital.
David was born on February 22, 1962 in Zion, IL to Gene and Sachiko Swanson. He married Janice Vaughn on July 7, 2013 in Paducah, KY. She survives of Energy.
He worked as a freelance construction worker. He took great pride in doing a professional job for his clientele. He was a Christian and enjoyed fishing on the various lakes and ponds in this area. He enjoyed collecting trains and army memorabilia. He was a skilled chef and his family enjoyed his delicious recipes.

Daughter- Dawn Reynolds and husband Branten of Johnston City
Daughter- Sarah Swanson of Marion
Daughter- Krystal Schroeder and husband Patrick of Marion
Daughter- Kristina Suffel of Flint, MI
Daughter- Devon Swanson of Flint, MI
Son- Matt Lang and wife Mary of Carterville

Numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, son- Robert W. Swanson and one brother.
“My husband had a beautiful soul. I often told him that. He was always loving and never said an unkind word to me. He held no bitterness in his heart for anyone. He accepted Jesus Christ into his heart and I am sure he is in a loving, beautiful place now. He will forever be with me in my heart. It was and still is a total, complete love we had for each other” -Janice
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. A memorial visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.
