David F. Grobe MARION–David F. Grobe, 69, of Marion passed away at 10:58 PM, Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Entombment will be next to his wife at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Memorials may be made to Marion Youth Baseball and Softball Association; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. David was born June 11, 1939 in Shelbina, Missouri to Oscar Paul and Ruth (Bean) Grobe. He married Peggy R. Turner on December 30, 1960 in Marion; she preceded him in death on March 14, 2008. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Gregory M. McCree of Carterville; son, David Scott Grobe and Stacey Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine “Katey” and Timothy Thompson of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; grandchildren, Aaron McCree and Kristin Wilson both of West Frankfort, Austin McCree stationed aboard USS Carl Vinson in Norfolk, Virginia, Evan McCree of Carterville, Nicholas Thompson and Benjamin Thompson both of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; great grandson, Colin Michael McCree; and brother, Edwin P. Grobe of Tempe, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and sister, Alice Calvert. David retired from SIU in the Administration Department. He was a past member and president of Marion Youth Baseball and Softball Association. He enjoyed researching Geneology and along with his wife, he enjoyed attending sporting events that his grandsons participated in.
