David B. Askew MARION-David B. Askew, 72, of Marion passed away at 4:39 PM, Friday, February 19, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Father Randy Uselton and Reverend Bill Rucker officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday, February 22, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Energy. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion Il 62959. David was born on July 22, 1937 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Beaven and Mildred (Zulinger) Askew. He married Sharon Speers on July 13, 1968 in Marion, IL. Together they shared 41 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife Sharon Askew of Marion; daughter, Tammy McMinn and fiancé Tony Berggren of New Zealand; daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Phillip White of Niceville, Florida; grandchild, Kasey White; sister, Marilyn and Bob Edmondson; brother, Mike Askew of Chino, California; sister-in-law, Violet Askew of Marion; in-laws, Dick & Betty Speers of Marion; aunt, Aleta Hedge of St. Louis, Missouri; and devoted pets, Maggie, Lucy, Ally Cat, Dutches, and Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Denzil B. Askew; loving step-mother, Virginia Askew; and brother, James B. Askew. David served in the United States Army. He loved to read, play pinochle, and was a computer guru. David’s love of travel always included their dear friends, Carol & Jim Williams, Sharon Wood, and Jane Treece. David will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, and longtime friend of the family Sara Berry.
