Daniel S. “Dan” Tooley Jr. MARION-Daniel S. “Dan” Tooley Jr., 77, of Marion passed away at 2:36 PM, Monday, October 5, 2009 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Don Colson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites at 7:00 PM by Marion Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM. Entombment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 1301 Ritual Team; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Dan was born March 18, 1932 in Bono, Arkansas to Daniel and Clara (Barber) Tooley. He married Patsy Strickland on July 4, 1955 in Lake City, Arkansas; together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Marion; his children, Steven and Ana Tooley and Jackie and Ted Cottrill all of Marion and Rhonda and John Allen of Guyton, Georgia; grandchildren, Jessica Assaf, Laura Renwick and Erica Stansell all of Raleigh, North Carolina, Jody Allen, of Perryville, Missouri, Jesse Allen and Sondra Allen all of Guyton, Georgia, Steven A. Tooley of Okawville and Natasha Jarden of Clarksville, Tennessee and Nathaniel Tooley and Savannah Tooley of Marion; brother, Vernon Neal of Jonesboro, Arkansas; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, John “Rod” Allen; and sisters, Dorothy Smith, Wanda Evatt, Hazel Wandless, and Johnny Archambo. Dan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearl City, Hawaii. He served his country with the United States Air Force for 20 years and the United States Navy for 6 years. He previously worked as an Operations Supervisor for the Social Security Administration. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1301 in Marion, a member of the American Legion Post 147 in Marion, a 50 year member of the Marion Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM, the VFW Post 1301 Ritual Team, and an active member of the 725th Air Force reunion in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Dan was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by all.
