Cindy L Shelton

Cindy Lou Shelton, 70, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2024, in Carbondale, Illinois. Cindy was born in Paducah on December 8, 1954, to David R. Spears and Helen M. (Woods) Kelly. She grew up in Paducah, graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School, and was of the Baptist faith.

Cindy is survived by her partner, Rodney Byers of Goreville, IL; her mother, Helen; her sister, Crystal Spears; two sons, Stoney Douthitt (Jodi) and William (Buck) E. Shelton, III; her nephew Dj Irvine (Lauren); and four grandchildren, Rachel Douthitt, Josiah Douthitt, MaKenna Shelton, and Abby Shelton. 

Cindy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen, her father Bobby, and her husband, W. E. Shelton, Jr.

 Cindy is a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and “Nana” of her grandchildren. She gave her whole self in thought and deed to her relationships. Her hugs will be missed, and her love of chocolate will live on through generations. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. The family will hold a private observance. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Bible Society (www.americanbible.org).
