Charlotte L. Walley
MARION-Charlotte L. Walley, 79, passed away on March 30, 2007 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha (Dial) and Michael Graveline in Bourbonnais, Illinois. She was born February 28, 1928 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Delbert and Ludene (Hogan) DuPont. She was a lifetime resident of Marion.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Floyd Dorris officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.
Charlotte attended Marion Schools and graduated from MTHS in 1945. She was an officer of her class and she loved to help plan and attend the class reunions.
Charlotte married O. R. Walley on July 23, 1966 in Union City, Tennessee. They shared 33 wonderful years together until he passed away on June 1, 1999. Many enjoyable family gatherings were held at Charlotte and Walleyâs home throughout the years. Charlotte was known as the “Best Cooker” in the family.
Charlotte worked in banking, starting at the Bank of Marion and retiring from Banterra Bank after more than 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha (Dial) and Michael Graveline of Bourbonnais; granddaughter, Stephanie Wallace of Marion; sister, Sharon DuPont of Johnston City; cousins, Danny Hogan and Debra Ramsay of West Frankfort; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Barbara Jane DuPont and Margaret Stevens; and nephews, Mike Johnson and Jeff Stevens.
