Charles Sterne

MARION-Charles Sterne, 71, of Marion, passed away at 7:37 AM, Thursday, May 27, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Sterne`s wishes were to be cremated. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Mr. Sterne was born on July 1, 1932 in Michigan City, Indiana to Charles and Jean (MacDonald) Sterne. He married Elizabeth Buffo on September 17, 1955 in Chicago, and she survives. Other survivors include sons; Charles T. and Kimberly Sterne of New Lenox, Illinois, Michael A. Sterne of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Mark W. and Ann Sterne of Shereville, Indiana; brothers, Donald and Janet Sterne of Phoenix, Arizona, and Robert and Sally Sterne of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Helen Becker. Mr. Sterne was a member of St. Joseph`s Catholic Church in Marion. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He moved to Lake of Egypt after retiring from Tinley Park, Illinois in 1998.
