Charles Schroeder

Marion-Charles William Schroeder died peacefully at his home near Pittsburg with his family by his side on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Charles was born to William James and Helen Florence (Cochran) Schroeder on September 29, 1934.  He married Sue Allyn Lee on February 21, 1953 in Pocahontas, AR.  She preceded him in death on August 20, 2013 at their family home. Charles or Charlie as he was known was the Service Manager for Claunch Motors in Herrin for 37 years.  Many customers have expressed their appreciation of his many kindness and attention to their needs.  He was a member of the Pittsburg Methodist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Charla (Wade) Murphy of Taylorville, IL and his son, Jeff (Kim) Schroeder of Marion.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Bruce (Julie) Murphy; Amanda (Gary) Andress; Sarah Murphy and Lee (Katie) Schroeder.  He leaves nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife and beloved brother, Georgie Schroeder. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.  His wishes were to be cremated and there will be a private family inurnment at a later date at Mt. Pleasant “Shed” Cemetery next to his wife.
