Marion Charles Leonard Smith, 64, of Marion passed away surrounded by family at his home on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 2:10 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Robbey Smith presiding. Interment will follow in Hanks Cemetery, southeast of Marion. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Blue Funeral Home in Marion to help the family offset the cost of funeral expenses. Mr. Smith was born in Marion to Gordon & Naomi (Hornick) Smith on Friday, April 16, 1948. He married Melanie Hill 30 years ago; she survives of Marion. Charles is survived by his wife, Melanie; siblings, Mike Smith, Janet & Doug Brown and Kelly & Stacey Smith all of whom reside in Marion and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Smith worked as a laborer in the construction field.
