Charles Sterling Halley

Charles Sterling Halley, age 86, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 16, 2024 at Herrin Hospital.

Charles was born July 10, 1938 in Sparta, Illinois, a son of Tom and Marie (Stout) Halley. He married the love of his life, Linda Sue Prather on March 04, 1972 in Herrin, IL.

Charles loved riding his motorcycle and tending to his garden. Charles was a Nascar fan and a Master Mason with Herrin's Prairie Masonic Lodge.

Charles proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Ar Force.

He is survived by three children, Scott and Jenny Judd of Marion, IL, Charlotte Halley Anderson of Herrin, IL, and Robin Beers of Johnston City, IL; five grandchildren, Kyrie (Taylor) Perry, Morgan (Codie) Steinmetz, Jacob Anderson, Scott Beers, and Steven Beers; and ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his spouse Linda Sue Halley; two children, Krystal Halley and Jimmie Judd; and two siblings, Pat Allen and Jim Halley.

Graveside Service will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, 1:00 PM at Herrin City Cemetery with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herrin American Legion and VFW Posts with assistance from the United States Air Force. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
