Charles G. Spees

Marion-Charles G. Spees, 78, passed away at 6:40am on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg. Charles was born May 3, 1935 to George Spees and Verba (Summers) Spees in Marion.  He married Norma Rosenberger on June 15, 1957.  They spent 56 years together. Charles worked as a plumber, pipefitter out of Local #551 in West Frankfort for over 50 years. He was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife; sons, Terry Spees and Tom Spees of Marion and Todd Spees of Warner Robbins, Georgia; grandchildren, Ryan (Erin) Spees, Sarah (Eric) Burd, Lauren (Alex) McCree, Jacob Spees, Ty Spees and Alex Spees; great grandchildren, Ella Burd, Lydia McCree and one on the way. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim Spees and daughter in law Donna Spees. Graveside services will be at 1:30pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion with Rev. Bill Gholson officiating.  Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.  Blue Funeral Home in Marion is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Marion Regional Humane Society.
