Charles G. Dreyer
MARION-Charles G. Dreyer, 78, of Marion passed away at 2:14 PM, Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Garden Cemetery in Oak Lawn, next to his wife, Elaine. Memorials may be made to the Williamson County Programs on Aging; envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Dreyer was born on December 21, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Pauline (Zirbes) Dreyer. He married Elaine Malcolm in May of 1958; she preceded him in death on July 12, 1997.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Brenda Dreyer of Marion, Dennis and Sue Dreyer of Cuba, Missouri and Darrell Dreyer of Marion; and grandchildren, Amber Dreyer, Bryan Dreyer, Mallory Dreyer and Darcy Dreyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and sister, Evelyn Buchhaas.
Mr. Dreyer retired from American Can Company after 32 years as a machine shop foreman. After retiring he built his home at the Lake of Egypt. He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Army. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. He loved to travel to Cuba, Missouri and help his son, Dennis with his horses. In his spare time he loved to fish and hunt.
