Charles E. “Charlie” White
HERRIN-Charles E. “Charlie” White, 74, of Herrin passed away at 3:25 AM, Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at the Illinois veterans Home in Anna.
In accordance with Mr. Whiteâs wishes the services will be private. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. White was born on September 3, 1932 in Herrin, Illinois to Joe and Mary (Leunkitis) White.
Survivors include his brother, Robert L. White of Energy; niece, Jamie White of Los Angeles, California; niece and husband, Mary Jo and Joe McCurdy of Marion; great nephews, Kayden White and Cameron McCurdy; great niece, Mary McCurdy; and cousins, Roger and Dawn Hopkins of Herrin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Nancy White.
Mr. White served his country with the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean Conflict. He later took over the family business, White Auto Supply in Herrin, retiring in 2001. He was well known in the Herrin area for his knowledge of antique automobiles.
