Charles Cottone
LAKE OF EGYPT-Charles Cottone, 81, of the Lake of Egypt passed away at 1:35 AM, Sunday, October 8 2006 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Second Baptist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Cottone was born on May 20, 1925 in Williamson County, Illinois to Tony and Molly Margaret (Gaddis) Cottone. He married Doris Fry on January 6, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas; she preceded him in death on February 20, 1997.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Jerry Stewart of the Lake of Egypt and Charla and Mark Ostergren of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren, Chad and Miki Stewart Shane and McKenzi Smith, Kyle and Erin Ostergren, Stefan Ostergren and Anna Ostergren; great grandchildren, Caleb Stewart, Marah Stewart and Jerin Smith; his mother, Molly Margaret Cottone of Anna; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Stella Cottone of Anna; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob Winche; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Mary Fry; and his buddy, “Lucky”.
He was preceded in death by his father; his wife; and infant son, Charles.
Mr. Cottone previously drove a truck for Stroud and Sheretz Oil Company. He was a hard working man and who loved to improve the appearance of things. He served his country during World War II with the United States Marine Corp.
