Charles “Chuck” Kerley, 75, of Cypress, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 12, 2024. Born on August 13, 1949, in Peoria, Illinois, Chuck was the beloved son of the late Roy Jr. and Meryl Kerley. On March 14, 1982, he married the love of his life, Paula (Marks), and they shared over 42 wonderful years together.
Chuck dedicated more than 55 years of his life to his work as a heavy equipment operator for the International Operating Engineers Local 318. A committed professional, he took pride in his work and was highly respected by his colleagues and community.
A lifetime member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Perks, Illinois, Chuck’s faith was an integral part of his life. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing, often spending his time hunting rabbits, squirrels, and duck. Known for his playful spirit, Chuck was always ready to lovingly “aggravate” his family and friends, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife, Paula; his children, Tracey and Chuck Thomas, Michael Kerley, and Angela and Andrew Yeakey; his grandchildren, Jessica and Evan, Christopher and Sarah, Brandon and Morgan, Brian, Cayden, Mariah and Jacob, and Madelynn; his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Jerni, Gracelynn, Brooklynn, Isla, Lucas, Leo, Alex, Nicholas, Makenzie, and Noah. He is also survived by his siblings, Roger and Debbie Kerley, Tim and Rosa Kerley, and his sister-in-law, Dawn Marks, along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Donnie Kerley, and his father-in-law Ralph “Roland” Marks and mother-in-law Elsie Marks.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home in Goreville under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Private services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024. All are invited to a time of fellowship and memory sharing luncheon after graveside services at Maple Grove Baptist Church in Perks, Illinois.
