Charles Alvin Ward GOREVILLE-Charles Alvin Ward, 89, of Goreville passed away at 4:10 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2007 at V.A. Medical Center in Marion. In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated with private services held at a later date. Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is assisting the family with their arrangements. Mr. Ward was born November 22, 1918 in Visalia, California to Putnam and Edna (Sherman) Ward. He married Genevieve Ward and she preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter, Gienie Christine Maruna of Delavan, Wisconsin; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene Anne and James Cool of Goreville, Illinois; daughter Patricia Arlene Banas of Cary, Illinois; grandchildren, Robert Ward, Matthew Maruna, Rebecca Maruna, Joshua Cool, Ellen, Russell, Samantha, and Chelsea Banas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Genevieve; brother Arthur Russo. Mr. Ward served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Master Sergeant for five years, he served in Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe he earned three Bronze Stars. He loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
