Charles Alfred Brush

Charles Alfred Brush, age 88, of Creal Springs, passed away at 12:12am on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Charles was born on February 16, 1932 in Williamson County, Illinois. He married Verla Imogene Heck on May 3, 1952 in Crab Orchard.  She preceded him in death on November 12, 2015

Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and worked as a cook. He was a lifetime member of the Marion Masonic Lodge #89 of over 50 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Sharon and Ken Mausey of Crab Orchard; son, Allan and Jamie Brush of Creal Springs; grandchildren, Sean and Jamie Mausey, Julie and Alex Tecklenburg, Sarah and Dylan Pyron, Hannah Brush; great grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb and Jonah Tecklenburg, Lily and Zoey Mausey, Ruby, Lincoln and River Pyron; several nieces, nephews and grand dogs, Buddy, Harold and Koda.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Verla Imogene and sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Harry Etherton.

Funeral services will be held at Blue Funeral Home Marion on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Simmons Cemetery in Creal Springs. Graveside military rites will be provided.

Visitation will be held at Blue Funeral Home Marion on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, those attending the service are asked to maintain social distancing guidelines and wear a face mask. 

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ PO Box 411/ Marion, Illinois 62959.
