MARION -- Charles A. Smith, 74, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, in Third Baptist Church of Marion. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Metropolis Memorial Gardens. A time of gathering for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 15, at the church.

Charles was born Oct. 10, 1938, in Massac County to Lloyd and Theodora (Moll) Smith.
He married Linda Hausman on May 15, 1960, in Metropolis.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Linda, of Marion; children, Todd A. and Jan Smith of Tallahassee, Fla., Trent D. Smith of Omaha, Neb., and Tyler W. Smith and friend, Dee Heller, both of Marion; grandchildren, Zachary Smith, Connor Smith, Cory Smith and Kellen Smith; and siblings, Virginia Black, Lula and Charles Dickson, Earl and Gloria Smith, Verl Smith, Frances Goins and Barbara Rohrer.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lavern Smith, Iva Hines and Carl Smith.
Mr. Smith was a member and deacon of Third Baptist Church in Marion. He was on the board of directors for Sons of the Father Ministry.
Charles coached little league baseball, showing great enthusiasm for the sport. He started his career at Bonifield Brothers Trucking Co., and ended it in the same field, as an operations management supervisor for Conway Freight Co. He will be missed.
