Caroline Ann Diefenbach Marion-Caroline Diefenbach, 73, of Marion passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be in Bolton-Trammel Cemetery in Stonefort, IL. Visitation will be held from 5-8PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the funeral home. Caroline was born on April 5, 1937 in Burlington, IA, to Robert & Anna Purcell. She graduated in 1955 from York High School in Elmhurst, IL and moved on to obtaining a nursing degree. Caroline enjoyed the medical profession and chose to work for various nursing homes throughout her career. For a period of time, however, Caroline owned a bar & restaurant in the Cayman Islands. She is survived by her loving husband, William Jacob Diefenbach; children, Jeff & Loretta Quinlan of Huntley, Susan Schaak of McHenry, Julie Campbell of Blairsville and Rebecca & Clyde Parsons of Marietta, OH; sister, Linda VandeWalker of Streamwood; sister-in-law, Rhoda Purcell of Wheaton; grandchildren, Amanda & Mike Carzoli, Rebecca & Zack Adams, Kevin & Michelle Quinlan, Kyle Quinlan, Nicole Diefenbach, Jacob Diefenbach, Joshua Diefenbach and Elizabeth Diefenbach; great-grandchildren, Jacob Lee Diefenbach and Ryan Carzoli; step-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews and many friends. Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Purcell & Anna Laura Smith; step-father, John Smith; brother, Jerry Purcell and grandson, Lee Ray Norris. Caroline enjoyed many things, among them being collecting teddy bears, traveling and being in the company of her family, dog Maudie & many friends. She was also active in community & service organizations. She was very involved in various Lion’s/Lioness’ Clubs through out; notably, Marion, Creal Springs, Carpentersville, and the Cayman Islands, in which she held various offices. She was also involved with Lake in the Hills School Board and member of snowmobile clubs. She will be missed.
