Carl Eugene Stilley
MarionCarl Eugene Stilley, 91, of Marion left on his final journey, Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 5:00 PM at the Marion Veterans Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Carrier Mills & Harrisburg American Legions and the National Guard Flag Detail Team. A time of gathering for family and friends will precede the services on Friday from Noon 1:00 PM. Memorial Donations are suggested to American Legion of Harrisburg & Carrier Mills; envelopes will be available during services or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, Il, 62959.
Carl was born on Monday, May 24, 1920 in Marion to Guy & Mary Frances (Fulkerson) Stilley. He served in the US Navy during WWII; later serving in the US Navy Reserves throughout the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
Mr. Stilley is survived by his children, Diana Sparkie WhiteEagle and Buddy Pearson; Four Grandchildren; Five Great-Grandchildren; siblings, Leesa & John Grant and Charles & Carol Stilley and several nieces & nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd, Guy Jr. and James Stilley; sisters, Bonnie Fuller, Bobbie Castellano and Hazel Finn..
Mr. Stilley was employed as a Lathe Engineer for Foot Gear Brothers in Chicago for several years. In his younger days he was a member of the CCs. Carl was known throughout Southern Illinois as a Cadillac Collector and a customizer of old cars.
